In the ‘Molenberg’ family farm in Blaasveld, the Van Breedam miller's family ground and distilled grain to make jenever from the 17th century onwards. Charles Leclef, fifth generation brewery owner, grew up in Het Anker but was also familiar with the former family distillery in Blaasveld. Both family traditions - distilling and brewing - were combined in a new project: De Molenberg Distillery, Belgium's first whisky distillery with traditional Scottish pot stills. The mash of the Gouden Carolus Tripel beer serves as the base for Gouden Carolus Single Malt whisky.
